South Ridge Fairmont - RealLife - Real Relationship - Real Purpose
what to expect @ south ridge church

It is never easy to visit a new church for the first time so we want to be as helpful as we can to make your experience a good one. We have come up with this list of questions that most people want to know when visiting. If you can't find your answer on here or on the site somewhere, please give us a call or contact us through our site.

What should I wear? What do I do before the service?  Is there childcare and classes available for my children?
What about the singing? What about the speaking?  How about the offering basket?
What’s up with communion? What do I do after the service? How do I get there?
Where do I park?Does the church offer home or small groups?
Are there midweek activities?
What denomination is the church? How long will the service last?

What should I wear?
Come the way that you feel most comfortable.  Some enjoy wearing their “Sunday best”, others wear business casual, and others simply come casual.

What do I do before the service?
There will be fresh coffee, tea, lemonade, and other light refreshments near the back entrance. If you get in late, no problem, just bring your food and drink into the service with you. Most importantly, just hang out and enjoy the company of friends.

Is there childcare and classes available for my children?
Yes.

Nursery
South Ridge offers nursery care that is located just across from the sanctuary so that your little ones can be close at hand. The nurseries care for children as young as 6 weeks-old up to 2 years of age and are divided into two separate nurseries for safety (walkers and non-walkers). Children can be signed in at our Family Ministry registration table and dropped off at our infant nursery, which is located just off the main lobby. For children under 2 and who walk well, after they are signed in they can be dropped off upstairs in our walking nursery.

All parents who sign in a child will be given a pager, so the nursery volunteers can quickly contact you if a need arises.

Children’s Ministry

All children between 2 years of age through fourth grade can be signed in at the Family Ministry registration table. Children will remain upstairs for the duration of the service.

5th through 8th grade students can take advantage of our pre-teen class that takes place after worship time during the 11:00 service only. They can sign up at the table as well before going into service.

What about the singing?
This time is set aside for communicating with God from our hearts. We have live upbeat music, as well as intimate songs of worship. Everyone worships in their own unique way for many, that means singing & clapping and for others it means quietly reflecting on the words. You’re welcome to do whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

What about the speaking?
Every weekend, you will hear a relevant, straightforward message that is based on Scripture and is designed to be helpful in your everyday real life. We trust that these messages will help you develop a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and provide a strong biblical foundation for your life.

How about the offering basket?
Each week there is a time to worship God through the giving of tithes and offerings. As a guest, please do not feel any pressure to give. This is an act of worship for our regular attenders, as the fulfillment of the Biblical commandment to give a tithe of everything God blesses us with back to Him. This allows South Ridge Church the means to reach more people for Christ in the future.

What’s up with communion?
Once a month, we celebrate communion together. Anyone can participate in communion who has made the decision to follow Jesus Christ.  The juice and bread that we share represent the life He gave up so that our sins could be forgiven.

What do I do after the service?
All children can be picked up immediately following service end.  To ensure each child returns safely to the proper family, we request that a parent or guardian arrives to pick up children and sign them out.  Also, parents with children in the nursery will also need to return the pager to the proper location as well.

If you don't have children to pick up, hang out and have some coffee.

How do I get there?
We are located right off of Rt. 250.  On the Services page is a link to an interactive Google map. Visit the map to find your way.

Where do I park?
Parking attendants will assist in parking cars.  There is parking available in front and behind the building.  There is also minimal parking available along the road that leads into the church.  Because we do not have permission to do so, please refrain from parking in the parking lot that is behind the town houses or in the gravel lot across from it.

Does the church offer home or small groups?
Yes! We feel that small or home groups are a critical component of the church body. Small groups are available almost every day of the week in many locations around Fairmont and the surrounding neighborhoods.  Call the church office if you are interested in this great opportunity for growth and relationships.

Are there midweek activities?
Most definitely!  Our small groups not only offer real relationships, but also real opportunities to get involved in the community and to just have fun!  Call the church office about small groups or to ask about upcoming events.  Also, check out the church bulletin for church-wide opportunities to get involved.

What denomination is the church?
South Ridge is a non-denominational church that believes in salvation through Jesus Christ. See our beliefs page and core values for more information.

How long will the service last?
The 9:15 a.m. service will generally be released between 10:30-10:45 a.m.  The 11:00 a.m. service will be generally be released between 12:15-12:30.
